An interview with artist Rob Retiano

1. What initially drew you to comics?

I was first introduced to comics from my cousin, but it was thanks to my third grade teacher who suggested I read comics since I had difficulty paying attention to reading books that really got me loving them. The three titles that got me hooked are Amazing Spider-Man, Uncanny X-Men, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

2. What do comics allow you to do as a visual storyteller/creator?

For me, comics allow me to create something new with characters I love and ones that I may be introduced to for the first time -- to tell stories in different visual medium that are static on paper, but still give the same feeling as watching a movie or tv.

3. Are there characters/styles you find yourself returning to?

My go-to's tend to usually be Spider-Man and his rogues -- they're all so different and fun to work with.
