1. What initially attracted you to comics?
Well, initially the stories were told I read many Batman stories from the 80s to 90s, I also read a lot of Disney and Turma da Mônica children's comic books were very successful until today here in Brazil.. Horror comics also attracted my attention. I remember two editions based on the movie Nightmare on Elm Street. The inks by master Alfredo Alcala caught my attention, and then I fell in love with the Wolverine saga drawn by Marc Silvestri and with sensational inks by Dan Green.
2. Please tell us about one of your best experiences working with comics so far.
One of the most remarkable was working with Gail Simone at Lion Forge, besides being an incredible human being, she is a phenomenal writer, there was also the occasion when José Luís and I shared some pages with Ivan Reis on Batman and Superman, but also the chance to meet and talk to many of the artists I admire and always saw their work published in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. A magical moment was being able to have lunch together with the masters Frank Miller and Neal Adams in 2019 at a friend's house here in Brazil after CCXP I confess that I didn't have the courage to talk to both of them hahaha, my shyness as a fan was stronger
3. Please tell us about Seven Days, your work for DC, and any other projects you'd like to share. Seven Days was a watershed for me. I have been working in the market since 2006. Between moments of abundance and scarcity in 2017, after working with my friend Felipe Watanabe for two short works at DC, I was sampling a lot of José Luís' work but always with negatives. It was then that in 2019 came the opportunity to work at Lion Forge, which to our pleasant surprise was going to be written by Gail Simone. It was a year where I could improve my partnership with José and soon after the first works at DC started to come, there were some short editions until the Titans United series appeared, another watershed for both of us, and another incredible year.
I want to thank our editor Michael MacCalister who has been with us since we started at DC after finishing our work at Lion Forge. I also really appreciate the opportunity to have worked wit writer Cavan Scott on the Titans United series. Then I was invited by my friend Marcelo Costa to participate in Radiant Black by Image Comics another great joy for me because I've always been a fan of the comics published in the 90's and 2000's at the publisher. When I was younger I really wanted to work at Marc Silvestri's studio. I remember seeing some pictures in the old Wizard magazine. At the moment I can't comment much on the new projects, but very good things are to come.
