1. What initially drew you to comics?
Comics were the one thing that captured my imagination as a little kid to the point where I started doing them myself. Toys and cartoons and video games didn't take over the way comics did. It was a real compulsion. Maybe it was the characters, the colors, the art, the format... I'm sure it was all that and more. That fascination has basically driven my life and career.
2. What do comics allow you to do creatively?
Complete creative control, to tell the stories I want to tell in the specific ways I see fit. Combining words and pictures has been my favorite thing since forever. Nothing else comes close.
3. Please tell us about Copra and any other titles/work you'd like to share about.
COPRA is a full-color, serialized action comic written, drawn, lettered and colored by me. It started out as a self-published series, was briefly published by Image Comics, and has recently returned to being a self-published comic (though Image continues to publish the collections). It’s about a group of mercenary misfits thrust into a macro-revenge mission and after 44 issues, it's evolved into a deeper look into the characters' lives.
4. Where can we learn more about your work?
I'm always posting updates and process articles over on my Patreon page as well as on my own site MichelFiffe.com. Lots of comics talk over on Twitter and Instagram as well. I'll take any opportunity to chat about whatever obsession has taken me over at the moment.
