1. What led you to comics?
I have uncles who have regularly bought comics since the 80’s. And they let us (me and my cousin) read them all. We had a lot of fun reading, creating our stories, and drawing. After sometime, I started buying comics myself.
2. Please tell us about your creative process.
My creative process steps are:
- read the script fully.
-create small layouts for each page to help me get the full story visually. It usually allows me to see if my layouts are repeating themselves or even looking too boring.
-once layouts are approved, I straight up pencils and send batches of three pages for editors approvals.
Bonus step: Once the publisher sends me a copy of the book, I read it all over again to see what could be done better. It helps me avoid makes the same mistake time after time.
3. Please tell us about one of the best collaborations you’ve been part of.
I have been fortunate enough to work with many veterans who I have admired for a long time! To name a few: Jim Zub (he writes the most organically fun to drawn series), Ron Marz, and Andy Lanning, who loves science fiction as much as I do.
We had a lot of fun working on Twilight Imperium, and later on Resolution. It's my favorite genre to work on, and these writers understand how it works so well! Lately, I also had the chance to work Ed Brisson on Predator, and it was great. He is very nice and very collaborative to work with.
Bonus: Larry Hama on GI Joe. He had so much patience with me in my early career days, and helped me with layouts and guns. GI Joe is not an easy book to drawn!
4. Any upcoming work and current web spaces you’d like to share about?
My work on Predator wraps up in July and Marvel invited me to do another series (from their own host of superheroes) that I’m very excited for! Still waiting for them to announce, though! It will be a four issue series with a veteran writer!
Meanwhile, people will start receiving Resolution and Golden Years, graphic novels I drew along with Kevin Maguire, Tom Raney, Rick Leonardi, Paul Pelletier, Jack Herbert, and Bart Sears.
My online spaces are my social media: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Anyone can easily find me there talking about comics and posting my art.
