The fun and adventure continues in Kid Beowulf: The Tarpeian Rock. I first read this character in the initial volumes in this series and immediately passed them on to an educator friend of mine so that her students could enjoy them, too.
Alexis Fajardo blends literary history, fantasy, and a comical art style to create an imaginative world in this series, and the new entry features that same approach with new steps in the story. Readers will enjoy the connections to mythology, the visual style, and the action-oriented nature of the book.
The pages are colorful, the style is active, and now I’m ready to see this author/artist add another entry to the series – or even adapt this approach to another classical adventure. Also glad to see helpful materials listed at the end for readers who might be new to this world or want to learn more.
