The Girl from the Sea continues my visual and verbal appreciation for the work of Molly Knox Ostertag. I first discovered this creator’s Witch Boy series before reading back into Strong Female Protagonist.
In this current text, Ostertag explores identity, love, and myth, all woven together seamlessly and with wonderful symmetry. This creator also uses both narrative and illustrative talent to present layered characters, explore relationships, and draw on the features of graphic novel texts to convey emotion and growth.
There is so much here to take in and appreciate, and I would gladly share this book readers who are looking for a graphic novel that has powerful elements and uses the supernatural to reconsider the world.
