Notes on New Titles July 24, 2021

A well-written prose foray into the comics and science fiction universe that Marvel has continued to share and expand. As a fan, I found much to enjoy. As an educator, I saw great possibilities for sharing this book (and others like it) with young adolescent readers.

In other science fiction book news, I was pleased to be able to review a print copy of Andrew M. Nehring's David massie and the Quantum Flux. So much creativity in this book! I love the possibilities for sharing this story -- kind of like Ender's Game with alternative realities and time travel -- with middle grades and high school readers. A really enjoyable indie publication, great for those who enjoy the sci-fi genre.

Morgan Parker is a powerful voice, and this new collection is a distillation of vision, experience, emotion, and hope. A poet (and book) that must be read.

Richard Culatta’s work continues to inspire interest, and continues to speak to the digital reality in which we live. I appreciated the detail and research that went into composing this book. Recommended reading for educators and researchers.

Joris Chamblain continues Cici’s adventures in this beautiful and charming follow-up. I love the art and style of this series, not to mention the capacity for building imagination, creation, and authoring with your readers.

A welcome addition to classroom libraries, and thanks to First Second for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
