Newbery Award-winning author Lois Lowry was kind enough to respond to three questions about reading and writing. Here are her responses:
1. What advice would you offer young readers?
Share favorite books with friends; discuss them; recommend them; argue about them.
2. What advice would you offer young writers?
Take writing seriously. Set aside time, and have a special uninterrupted space in which to write.
3. What are you reading and writing now?
Reading: a good mystery called THE MAGPIE MURDERS by Anthony Horowitz.
Writing: some additional material for the 25th anniversary edition of THE GIVER.
